This piece features words ‘disappearing’ from federal agency websites and documents in compliance with the Trump administration’s executive orders. The text overlay was designed by my partner Karen Viola, and represents just a sampling of words that are being flagged for review and removal from public-facing materials including school curricula, according to the New York Times.

My work is featured in this limited edition artist’s book, a collaboration with my life partner which honors words from a song called ‘Sitting’ by Cat Stevens, now known as Yusuf.
I often wrote this phrase on the blackboard at the beginning of my college business classes, inviting my students to ‘open up’ and consider its meaning.
The book measures 6 by 4.5 inches.

These limited edition multi-print reliefs, ‘Connections,’ are created in collaboration with my wife who prints and mounts my work on a handmade structure made from book binders board, basswood, and acrylic paint. The format presents a journey of immersion into a captured place, its reality entangled in a conversation with it and how it is perceived. Using variations of color, size, physical depth, and the golden ratio, the work challenges viewers to find their own connections in its narrative abstraction.
